Athena

Athena is known as the “Goddess of War,” but it was as a judge, diplomat and mediator that she excelled.  Her decisions were renowned for their fairness and compassion.  Athena is known as a virgin goddess because she was able to remain independent and unaffected by the spells of Aphrodite, the goddess of love.  In Greek mythology Athena was, in essence, the prototype of the contemporary “career woman.”  A goddess of many talents, Athena was an expert artisan.  She was celebrated as the patron of weavers, potters, goldsmiths, sculptors, musicians, and equestrians.
