Lorelei

Lorelei’s beauty was her undoing. She was so stunning that men needed only one glance at her to fall in love. Accused of witchery she was sentenced to imprisonment. On the journey to the prison she asked her guards if she might glance one last time at the sea. Granting her wish, they let her walk to the cliff’s edge where she promptly leapt into the waters below. The story goes that Lorelei now enjoys her freedom as a mermaid.
